The NUS Enterprise Summer Programme in Entrepreneurship is an intensive two-week course designed to allow university students to understand the venture creation process better and provide insights into the startup ecosystems of Singapore and Southeast Asia. I attended the programme from 7 July to 20 July 2024. I am thankful to take on the role of the clan leader for my team and made friends with a group of amazing people! The two weeks we spent together brought us incredibly close. The nights filled with games, rushing to finish assignments, singing karaoke, and dragon boating are memories I will always cherish. I remember wanting to give up during dragon boating due to the heat, but the determination of everyone else inspired me to give it my all.
Lectures on entrepreneurship
The lectures were invaluable for my entrepreneurial journey. I gained so much insight from the experiences of different founders, and visiting Carousell and Google opened my eyes to new possibilities. After long days of lectures, our nightly game sessions brought me back to the joy of playing board games with family and friends. Those moments were pure fun.
Fun moments
Karaoke quickly became our favorite activity. It’s amusing to think that in just two weeks, we went singing so many times! Sharing songs from various languages and vibing together created unforgettable moments.
I still remember the day where we went dragonboat. The sun beat down relentlessly, making the heat almost unbearable, and we were all drenched in sweat and fatigue but we still did our best. Initially our pace was very different. Thankfully, our group had more time to practice compared to others since we set off first and we finally managed to get in the same rythm.
Birthday celebration
This was a very last minute plan as it is so funny how Hiroho, my Japanese group mate forgot that it was his birthday. We quickly went to get him a cake and celebrated together as a group.
While I don’t know when we’ll all be together again, I’m optimistic about meeting up in Japan or Indonesia someday. For the master's students, let’s keep the momentum going and meet up in Singapore. I’d love for us to stay connected through our group chat.
It’s been four months since the program ended, and I genuinely miss you all. I really hope we can reunite and hang out as a group again soon. I feel so thankful to have met you all as my group mates.
